7-on-7 Co-Ed Adult Soccer Tournament Rules

Game Rules and Regulations

  1. The Field
    1. Games will be played on half a regulation size football field from sideline to sideline.
    2. Teams will play 7-on-7. A minimum of five players are required to avoid a forfeit.
    3. Co-ed teams can play with a maximum of 4 males and a minimum of 3 females at all times.  The goalie may be of either gender.
    4. Games will be played with a size 5 regulation ball and full-size goals.
    5. One referee per game will be used.
  2. The Rosters
    1. Team rosters can have a maximum of 12 players.  All players must sign the Flight Action Sports (FAS) Waiver form and team roster before they are eligible to participate.
    2. Roster additions (or subtractions) must be made prior to tournament registration.
    3. Any team using non-roster players automatically forfeit all games in which the ineligible player participated in. 
    4. Repeat offenses of using non-roster players will result in team expulsion from the tournament without refund.

 

  1. Player Eligibility
    1. All players must be at least 18 years of age at the start of the tournament to be eligible to play.
 
  1. Equipment
    1. Appropriate outdoor soccer cleats or shoes are required. No metal spikes.
    2. Shin guards are mandatory and must be covered.
    3. Players who are not wearing proper equipment will not be allowed to participate.  It is up to the referee’s discretion to determine proper equipment.
    4. Repeat infractions related to player’s equipment may result in a yellow card at the
  •  

             referee’s discretion.

  1. Coin Toss
    1. Choice of ends and the kick-off shall be decided by the toss of a coin.
    2. Change of ends:  Teams shall change ends of the field at the start of the second half.
 
  1. Game Clock
    1. Each game will consist of two, 20-minute halves and a five-minute half time period.
    2. Game time is start time and clock will run as scheduled. 
    3. Running clock – no stoppage of game clock (including injuries).

            * Exceptions for stopping the game clock may be made at the discretion

              of the referee and/or tournament officials.*

  1. Code of Conduct
    1. All games shall be in accordance with the FIFA "laws of the game", except as specified herein.
    2. All players shall respect the calls of the referee and tournament officials.
    3. Any player who strikes, shoves, pushes, or otherwise physically or verbally threatens an official, tournament staff, facility staff, spectator, or members of any team shall be ejected from the tournament without refund and subject to further action depending on the severity of the incident and at the discretion of the field marshal and/or tournament officials.
    4. Players, reserve players, managers, coaches, and fans are expected to conduct themselves within the letter and spirit of "the laws of the game".   Tournament officials have the authority and the responsibility to remove any person from the tournament for abuses of conduct, in addition to any specific disciplinary action brought about by any other authoritative body.
 
  1. Unsportsmanlike Conduct
    1. Use of foul language, profanity or taunting an opponent.
    2. Contact or arguing with an official.
    3. Any unethical, offensive or language defiance of the official’s judgment or decision.
    4. Conduct detrimental to the positive image of Flight Action Sports.
 
  1. Tournament – Group Play
    1. In group play, there will be no overtime games.  Standings in a group will be determined by:
      1. 3 points for a win
      2. 1 point for a tie
      3. 0 points for a loss
    2. In the event of multiple teams having the same number of points after group play, the following tie-breaker system will be utilized:
      1. Head-to-head competition
      2. Net goal differential
        1. SAMPLE  Score is 5-2 winning team would have +3, losing team -3
        2. SAMPLE  Score is 10-0 winning team would have +10, losing team –10
      3. Total goals allowed
      4. Kicks from the penalty mark per FIFA rules
    3. The top two teams from group play advance to a single elimination playoff.
 
  1.   Tournament – Playoffs
    1. The top team from each group will play the second place team of the other group.

    1. The winners of each playoff game will play in the championship game
    2. In the event of a tie in the playoff or final game, the following rules shall apply:
      1. One full five minute overtime period
      2. If still tied, another full five minute overtime period will be played
      3. If still tied, a five minute ‘Golden Goal’ period will be played
      4. If the score is still tied, penalty kicks will follow (FIFA Rules).
        1. Penalty kicks can only be taken by the players on the field and must alternate genders.
 
  1. Forfeits
    1. If one or both teams is unable to field a minimum of 5 players, there will be a 5 minute grace periods. 
    2. After the 5 minute grace period, the game clock will begin.  Any team that cannot field a minimum of 5 players after 5 minutes has elapsed on the game clock will be penalized one goal. 
    3. After 10 minutes have elapsed on the game clock, the team that cannot field a minimum of 5 players will forfeit the game, which will be recorded as a 5 to 0 loss.  If both teams cannot field a minimum of 5 players, game results for both teams will be recorded as a 5 to 0 loss.
 
  1. Overtime
    1. There will be no overtime in group play.  During the playoffs, overtime rules will be governed as defined in Section 9.0 Tournament – Playoffs.
 
  1. Game Play
    1. All games shall be in accordance with the FIFA "laws of the game" except as specified herein.
    2. At kick off, the opposing team must stand a minimum of five yards away on their half of the field. Restarts do not have to go forward.
    3. TOUCH RULE:  Male players may only touch the ball five consecutive times.  Infractions will result in an indirect free kick.
    4. SUBSTITUTIONS:  There shall be no limit on the number of substitutions a team may make. Substitutions are allowed based on the referee’s discretion in the following situations:
      1. After a goal is scored
      2. At half-time
      3. After an injury when the referee stops play
      4. Prior to a goal kick
      5. Prior to a throw
      6. Prior to a corner kick
      7. Prior to a free kick
      8. When a yellow card is given (carded player will need to be subbed off the field of play).
    5. Substitutes must exit and enter at the midfield line.  If a team exceeds the maximum number of players on the field, then play will be stopped.  The opposing team will have an indirect free kick at the location of the ball when play was stopped or at the half line (whichever is closest to the opposition’s goal).  The referee retains the right to card infringing players for intentional or repeat substitution infractions.
    6. GOALKEEPERS:  Goalkeepers may not punt or drop kick the ball past half field. If done so, an indirect kick will be awarded to the opposing team at half field. Keepers may throw the ball as far as they wish.  However, a keeper throw is considered indirect and a goal cannot be scored in this manner unless touched by another player.
    7. Goal kicks may travel past half field.  An indirect kick will be awarded to the opposing team at half field.
    8. No off sides.
    9. All fouls and restarts outside of the penalty area will result in an indirect free kick including corner kicks.  Opposing players must remain five yards away.
    10. Penalty kicks will be taken from the penalty mark.
    11. For balls that travel over the sidelines, restart will be by a kick-in.  Kick-ins are indirect. Opposing players must be at least 5 yards away from the ball on kick-ins.
    12. Slide tackling the ball by field players is not permitted. If penalized, an indirect free kick will be awarded to the opposing team.
 
  1. Disciplinary Action
    1. A player who receives a red card or two yellow cards in a single game is ejected from the current game and the following scheduled game.  The game will not resume until the person who received the red card has left the immediate field area.
    2. A player who receives a yellow card must be substituted.
    3. Yellow cards are cumulative throughout the tournament. If a player gets three yellow cards, he/she is suspended from their team’s next game.
    4. A player who receives two (2) red cards during the tournament shall be suspended from all remaining games in the tournament without the possibility of refund.
 
  1. General Comments
    1. Tournament Officials and/or the host affiliate will not be responsible for any expense incurred by any team due to the cancellation in part or whole of this series.
    2. Any rule may be modified by the tournament officials without notice to program participants. If a change is made, each team will be notified as soon as possible.
    3. The tournament official’s interpretation of the foregoing rules and regulations shall be final.
    4. Tournament officials reserve the right to decide all tournament and game matters.
    5. Tournament officials are not responsible for the behavior of players, coaches, and spectators off the field or damages resulting from such behavior.  Coaches and players committing breaches of the law may be ejected from the tournament at the discretion of the tournament officials without the possibility of refund.
    6. No alcohol or illegal drugs will be allowed at any time.
